Abubaker Haydar Abdalla ( Arabic أبو بكر حيدر عبد الله, DMG Abū Bakr Ḥaidar ʿAbd Allāh ; * August 28, 1996 ) is a Qatari athlete of Sudanese descent who specializes in the 800-meter run and the 1500-meter run .

Career

Abubaker Haydar Abdalla gained his first experience at international championships at the World Youth Championships 2013 in Donetsk , where he finished 14th in the final with 9: 13.96 min. In 2014 he won the silver medal in the 1,500-meter run and bronze in the Qatari 4-by-400-meter relay at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei . He then took part over 800 meters in the Junior World Championships in Eugene , but retired there with 1: 50.79 min in the first round. In 2015 he took part in the World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang , where he finished 13th in the junior ranking. In October he finished eighth at the Military World Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, in 1: 50.16 m and retired from the season in the first round.

In 2016 he finished fourth over 800 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha and won the gold medal with the relay. He also qualified for the Olympic Games , where he was eliminated with 1: 47.81 min in the preliminary round. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where he won the gold medal in the 800-meter run in 1: 51.98 min . At the end of August he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and won the bronze medal there in 1: 46.38 minutes behind the two Indians Manjit Singh and Jinson Johnson . At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , Abdalla won the title in the 800-meter run with a personal best of 1: 44.33 minutes. He also won the bronze medal behind the teams from Japan and China in 3: 03.95 min. He qualified for the home world championships at the beginning of October, which also took place in Doha and made it to the semifinals there, in which he was eliminated with 1: 46.87 minutes. Even with the relay, he could not qualify for the final in 3: 06.25 min.
