Renate Gerlach (* 1957) is a German geoarchaeologist .

Renate Gerlach studied geography , history and geology at the University of Düsseldorf from 1977 to 1984 and received her doctorate in quaternary geology in 1988.

She works as a department head for geosciences at the LVR office for soil conservation in the Rhineland . Her main focus is geoarchaeological research into the history of the Holocene landscape, especially of the Rhineland . Since February 2006 honorary professor in the field of geoarchaeology at the Geographical Institute of the University of Cologne .

In 1994 Renate Gerlach was awarded the Albert Steeger Prize for “Research in the Border Area of ​​Geosciences and Archeology” .
