Mekonnen Gebremedhin ( Amharic መኮንን ገብረመድኅን ; born October 11, 1988 in Addis Ababa ) is an Ethiopian middle -distance runner who specializes in the 1,500-meter distance .

In 2007 he reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Osaka , and in 2008 he was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia . At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, he was eliminated in advance.

In 2010 he finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha , won bronze at the African Championships in Nairobi and came second at the Athletics Continental Cup in Split . A seventh place at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu was followed by a bronze medal at the 2012 World Indoor Championships in Istanbul. At the Olympic Games in London he was sixth.
