Yoel Hernández

Yoel Hernández ( Yoel Hernández Reyes; born December 12, 1977 in Manacas , Province of Villa Clara ) is a former Cuban hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance and, because of his sprinting strength, also in the 4-by-100-meter Season was used.

In 1996 he won the World Junior Athletics Championships in Sydney , and in 1997 he won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships.

In 1999 he won silver at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg behind his compatriot Anier García . At the World Athletics Championships in Seville , he finished sixth and came fourth with the Cuban 4 x 100 meter relay.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he reached the semifinals.

In 2001 he was at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Lisbon fifth over 60 m hurdles and fourth at the World Championships in Edmonton . 2003 followed a seventh place at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

In 2004 he finished seventh over the 60 m hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest , won the Ibero-American Championships and reached the semifinals at the Olympic Games in Athens .

In 2005 he won the Central American and Caribbean Championships and was eliminated from the semi-finals at the World Cup in Helsinki . The following year he was eighth over 60 m hurdles at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow and won bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Games .

In 2007 he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated from the semi-finals at the World Cup in Osaka . At the Indoor World Championships in Valencia in 2008 , he was again eighth.
