Vicente Lenílson de Lima (born June 4, 1977 in Currais Novos ) is a Brazilian sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter run and celebrated his greatest successes with the Brazilian 4-by-100-meter relay .
He participated in the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville and reached the quarter-finals in the 100-meter run. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he was eliminated in the first round over the same distance. In contrast, he was much more successful there in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Together with Édson Ribeiro , André da Silva and Claudinei da Silva , he won the silver medal in 37.90 s behind the US relay.
At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 , the Brazilian relay won in the same line-up as in Sydney with a time of 38.44 s in front of the team from Trinidad and Tobago , but benefited from a disqualification of the US relay. A short time later, the relay team, this time with Cláudio Roberto Souza for Claudinei da Silva, won the silver medal at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis with a time of 38.02 s. As in Sydney, only the United States relay was faster.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, de Lima reached the semi-finals in the 100-meter run. With the relay, he was only eighth this time. In 2004 he became Ibero-American champion over 100 m in Huelva . In 2005 he won the silver medal over the same distance at the South American Championships in Cali . In 2006 he was seventh in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and defended his title in the 100-meter run at the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce .
At the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 , de Lima won the gold medal again with the relay. Together with Rafael Ribeiro , Basílio de Moraes , Sandro Viana , he relegated the teams from Canada and the United States to their places in 38.81 s. The same Brazilian season missed a medal a short time later at the World Championships in Osaka with fourth place. De Lima started there in the 100-meter run, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
In 2008 he finished fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia over 60 m. At the Olympic Games in Beijing he came over 100 m to the quarter-finals and won the bronze medal with the relay. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009 , he finished seventh in the relay.
He was also six times Brazilian national champion, four times over 100 m (2000, 2002, 2004-2005) and twice in the 200-meter run (2002, 2005).
Vicente de Lima has a competition weight of 58 kg with a height of 1.69 m.
