Cláudio Roberto Souza (born October 14, 1973 in Teresina , Piauí ) is a Brazilian athlete whose special disciplines are the 100 and 200 meter run . Souza was also used in his country's sprint relays .

Sporting successes

Souza took part in two Summer Olympic Games ( 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens ).

In 2000, when he won the silver medal, he played prelims in the 4 x 100 meter relay in his home country, but was not used in the finals. Four years later, Souza finished eighth in the final together with Édson Ribeiro , André da Silva and Vicente de Lima in 38.67 s.

Souza celebrated his greatest success at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis, when he - again together with Vicente de Lima, Édson Ribeiro and André da Silva - won the silver medal in the sprint relay in 38.26 seconds. The Brazilian team only had to admit defeat to the US relay.

Souza's fifth place at the 2001 Summer Universiade in Beijing is his best placement as a single starter at international championships.
