The Palacio Velódromo Luis Puig ( Valencian Palau Velòdrom Lluís Puig ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Barrio Benimàmet of the Spanish city of Valencia , Valencian Community . The building is named after Luis Puig . From 1981 until his death in 1990 he was President of the World Cycling Federation UCI .
history
The hall, opened in 1992, has a 250-meter-long cycle racing track made of painted concrete , an indoor athletics facility with a length of 200 meters, a weight room, a fitness studio and is air-conditioned . In the neighborhood that lies fairground Feria Internacional de Valencia Muestrario (short: Feria Valencia ). The event hall was built to host the 82nd UCI Track World Championships in August 1992. In addition to cycling events, the velodrome is also the venue for other sports. In 1998 the hall was the venue for the 25th European Indoor Athletics Championships . The 12th indoor world championships followed ten years later . In December 2000 the arena became a swimming pool . The 4th European Short Course Championships were held.
In addition, the Palacio Velódromo Luis Puig is also used as a concert arena .
