Denis Sergejewitsch Alexejew ( Russian Денис Сергеевич Алексеев ; born December 21, 1987 in Leningrad ) is a Russian athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

In 2007 Alexejew won the gold medal over 400 m at the U23 European Championships in Debrecen with a time of 45.69 s. At the World Championships in Osaka , he took fifth place with the Russian 4 x 400 meter relay . In 2008 he reached the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia , with the relay he was sixth.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing he won the bronze medal with the Russian 4 x 400 meter relay. With a time of 2: 58.06 min, the relay set a Russian national record in this discipline. In addition, Alexejew started in Beijing in the 400-meter run, but was eliminated in the preliminary round with a time of 45.52 s.

In 2011, Alexejew reached fourth place with the Russian team at the European Athletics Indoor Championships and the World Championships . Fifth place followed at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Denis Alexejew is 1.85 m tall and has a competition weight of 76 kg.

doping

In post-tests, the anabolic drug dehydrochloromethyltestosterone was detected in a doping sample from the 2008 Olympic Games , whereupon he and the relay team were subsequently disqualified . The Russian Federation banned Alexeev for four years.
