Misleydis González

Misleydis González ( Misleydis González Herrera ; born June 19, 1978 in Bayamo ) is a former Cuban shot putter .

She had her first international successes at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, where she won in 2001 and 2003.

In 2004 González was sixth at the 2004 World Indoor Championships in Budapest, won silver at the Ibero-American Championships and finished seventh at the Olympic Games in Athens .

In 2005 González came tenth at the World Championships in Helsinki and won bronze at the Universiade . A gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games was followed by an eleventh place at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka.

In 2008 González finished fourth with a personal best indoor performance of 18.75 m at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia and came bronze after Nadseja Astaptschuk's doping disqualification . At the Olympic Games in Beijing , she also came fourth with a personal outdoor record of 19.50 m. Because of doping with two participants placed in front of her, she has meanwhile (2017) advanced to the silver rank.

In 2010 González first took seventh place at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and moved up to fifth place after the doping disqualifications of Belarusians Nadseja Astaptschuk and Natallja Michnewitsch .

Misleydis González is 1.79 m tall and had a competition weight of 75 kg and was one of the "lightweights" of her discipline.
