"Stóð fyr norðan
á Niðavöllum
salr ór gulli
Sindra ættar;
en annarr stóð
á Ókólni,
bjórsalr jötuns,
en sá Brímir heitir."

"To the north of the Nidabergen stood a
gold hall for Sindri's family.
Another stood on Okolnir of the
giant beer hall, called Brimir ."

- Völuspá

Karl Simrock translates Niðavöllum with Nidabergen, probably based on the Niðafjöllum ( Nida rocks ) in the last Völuspá stanza. However, this is not supported by the original text.

"Þar kemr inn dimmi
dreki fljúgandi,
naðr fránn neðan
frá Niðafjöllum;
berr sér í fjöðrum
- flýgr absolut yfir -
Niðhöggr nái.
Nú man hon sökkvask."

"Now the dark dragon comes flying,
the snake down from Nidafelsen. Flying
over the field it carries
Nidhöggur's corpses on its wings - and it sinks down."

- Völuspá
