Oludamola Osayomi (born June 26, 1986 in Ilesha ) is a Nigerian athlete who specializes in the 100-meter run and the 200-meter run . She was African champion several times and won the bronze medal with the relay at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Life

She took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki . With the 4 x 100 meter relay, Nigeria came in seventh.

In 2007 she finished eighth over 100 meters at the World Championships in Osaka . In the same year she managed a double victory over 100 and 200 meters at the Pan-African Games in Algiers . With the 4 x 100 meter relay she reached second place.

At the African Championships in Addis Ababa in 2008 , she won the gold medal in the 4-by-100-meter relay and in the 100-meter run, and a bronze medal over 200 meters. She celebrated her greatest success so far by winning the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . The Nigerian sprint relay had originally not qualified for the competition and could only participate because Finland withdrew its relay at short notice. Osayomi also started in Beijing in the 100- and 200-meter run, but was eliminated in the semi-finals and quarter-finals. On August 17, 2016, the Russian runners Julia Schermoschanskaja , Evgenia Polyakowa , Alexandra Fedoriwa and Julia Guschtschina were stripped of their 2008 gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay because of doping. The medals of Belgium (now gold), Nigeria (now silver) and Brazil (now bronze) have been gradually adjusted.

At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , Osayomi started over 100 and 200 meters as well as with the relay, but did not make it to the finals in any competition. The following year she won the title in the 200-meter run and the 4 x 100-meter relay as well as the bronze medal in the 100-meter run at the African Championships in Nairobi .

After her doping ban, Osayomi reached the semifinals of the 2011 World Championships over 100 meters. At the Pan-African Games shortly thereafter, she won gold over 100 and 200 meters. In London, she finished fourth with the Nigerian relay at the 2012 Olympics .

Oludamola Osayomi is 1.63 m tall and has a competition weight of 63 kg.

doping

At the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010 , she won the 100 meter gold medal, but soon lost it again. At first she only finished second, but benefited from the subsequent disqualification of Australian Sally Pearson due to a false start. During a doping control , however, Osayomi tested positive for the prohibited substance methylhexanamine . The gold medal was withdrawn from her and she was suspended for six months.
