Beatrice Utondu (born November 23, 1969 ) is a former Nigerian athlete , whose specialty disciplines were the 100-meter run and the long jump .

Sporting successes

Utondu celebrated her greatest success at the 1992 games in Barcelona in the 4 x 100 meter relay : She won the bronze medal together with Faith Idehen , Christy Opara-Thompson and Mary Onyali and only had to win in 42.81 seconds The USA team (42.11 s) and the United Team (42.16 s) were beaten. The time of the Nigerian team represents an Africa record that still exists today.

As a single starter, Utondu reached the semifinals in the 100-meter run at the Olympic Games in Barcelona and the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 .

In 1993 she won the African Championships in the 100-meter sprint and also won the long jump competition (6.45 m) at the Pan-African Games in 1987 in Nairobi .
