Mariem Alaoui Selsouli

Mariem Alaoui Selsouli ( Arabic مريم علوي سلسولي; * July 8, 1984 in Marrakech ) is a Moroccan middle and long distance runner .

Life

In 2001 she won the Moroccan championships over 3000 m . In 2002 she became junior vice world champion over 3000 m. She won the Moroccan Championship over 1500 m in 2005. At the World Cross Country Championships she finished 45th on the short distance in Brussels in 2004 and 22nd in Saint-Galmier in 2005. In 2006 she was sixth at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Moscow , came in the short distance races World Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka on 15th place and fifth over 5000 m at the African Athletics Championships in Bambous . The following year she ran at the Cross Country World Championships in Mombasa on rank 17 and won bronze with the Moroccan team. At the World Athletics Championships in Osaka , she was fourth over 1500 m.

In 2008 she won bronze over 3000 m at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia , but was eliminated from the Olympic Games in Beijing over 5000 m in the preliminary run.

In 2009 she was disqualified at the World Championships in Berlin after the semi-finals over 1500 m when it became known that erythropoietin (EPO) had been found in a doping sample that had been given three weeks earlier . The athlete was suspended for three years for this violation of the doping regulations .

At the Diamond League in Paris on July 6, 2012, the diuretic furosemide , which can be used as a masking agent for doping substances, was found in a doping sample of Selsoulis and the runner was excluded from the upcoming Olympic Games after she responded to the opening of the B sample had waived. She was banned for eight years.
