Alhaji Jeng

Alhaji Jeng (born December 13, 1981 in Banjul , Gambia ) is a Swedish pole vaulter .

When he was three months old, he came to Sweden from his birthplace in The Gambia, but kept the nationality of his country of birth until he was 18. On December 31, 1999, he became a Swedish citizen.

successes

Alhaji Jeng won the silver medal (5.70 m) at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow. In 2005 and 2006 he was the Swedish pole vault indoor and outdoor champions, and in 2003 he won the Swedish U23 indoor heptathlon championships, where he set a personal best. At the European Championships in the hall in 2005 he finished 8th, just like at the Junior World Championships in 2000. In 2009 he set a Swedish indoor record with 5.81 meters, which was beaten by Armand Duplantis on March 11, 2017 with 5.82 meters.
