Li Meiju

Li Meiju ( Chinese  李梅菊 , Pinyin Lǐ Méijú ; born October 3, 1979 in Shijiazhuang ) is a former Chinese shot putter .

The vice-junior world champion from 2000 won the 2002 Asian Games in Busan .

In 2003 Li Meiju was eleventh at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis and won the title at the Asian Championships.

In 2004 she was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and ninth at the Olympic Games in Athens .

The following year, Li Meiju finished seventh at the World Championships in Helsinki , won silver at the Universiade and defended her title at the Asian Championships.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, she came in sixth place. A bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 , which later became silver because of Nadseja Astaptschuk's doping disqualification , was followed by eighth place at the Olympic Games in Beijing .
