Andrei Sergejewitsch Jepischin

Andrei Sergejewitsch Jepischin ( Russian Андрей Сергеевич Епишин ; born June 10, 1981 in Zhukovsky , Moscow Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian athlete ( sprinter ).

Jepischin, the son of the former middle distance athlete Yekaterina Podkopajewa , is trained by his father Sergei. He is three times Russian champion (2004-2006) over 100 m and four times Russian indoor champion over 60 m (2003-2006).

He took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics, but retired early with 10.29 seconds as the seventh of his 100-meter quarter-final. The Russian 4 × 100 m relay, of which he was also a member, was the last of their advance.

At the European Indoor Championships in Seville in 2005 , he was fifth over 60 meters. In the same year he won the silver medal in the 100-meter run at Universiade in Izmir .

In 2006 he won the silver medal over 60 meters at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and achieved a personal best and a Russian record with a time of 6.52 seconds. He also won the silver medal over 100 meters at the European Championships in Gothenburg ; his time of 10.10 seconds meant a personal best and a national record.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics , he was eliminated with 10.25 seconds in sixth place in his 100-meter quarter-final.
