Dmitrij Vaľukevič

Dmitrij Vaľukevič ( Belarusian Дзмітрый Генадзевіч Валюкевіч , Dzmitryj Waljukewitsch, Engl. Transcription Dzmitryi Valyukevich * 31 May 1981 in Petrozavodsk , Russian Soviet republic , Soviet Union ) is a Slovak triple jumper Belarussian origin.

In 2003 he was U23 European champion and was eliminated from qualifying at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . The following year he was fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest , but did not get beyond the preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Athens .

On March 9, 2005, he received Slovak citizenship. Starting for his new country, he finished tenth at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 and at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he failed in the first round. In 2008, a fifth place at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia was followed by another preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Beijing .

In 2009 he was twelfth at the World Championships in Berlin , in 2010 seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and at the European Championships in Barcelona .

His father Gennady Valyukevich was also a successful triple jumper during the Soviet era. In September 2010 Dmitrij Vaľukevič married the Russian triple jumper Wiktorija Gurowa , who gave birth to their son in June of this year.
