Kathrin Neimke (born July 18, 1966 in Magdeburg ) is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who was one of the world's best shot putters in the 1980s and 1990s .

Career

Neimke started for the GDR until 1990 . Her greatest successes are the two Olympic medals that she won at successive games: the silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . She was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit for her success at the Seoul Olympics .; She also received the Silver Laurel Leaf for winning the bronze medal on June 23, 1993.

Kathrin Neimke started for SC Magdeburg and trained with Klaus Schneider . She is 1.80 m tall and weighed 95 kg in her active days. She has a degree in business administration and until the end of her sports career she had a job as a reproduction photographer for a daily newspaper. Then she went to the state riot police of Saxony-Anhalt.
