Konrad Dobler

Konrad Dobler ( Konrad Waldemar Dobler ; born April 27, 1957 in Alt-Asbach, Rotthalmünster ) is a former German long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the marathon .

Athletic career

In 1987 he was German cross-country champion, in 1988 second in the German marathon championships in 2:15:04 h. At the Marathon World Cup in Milan in 1989 , he came tenth as the best German runner with 2:13:51 h. In the following year he was ninth in the marathon of the European Championships and won the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:13:29 h.

In 1991 he was the best German eleventh at the Marathon World Cup held as part of the London Marathon and set his personal best with 2:11:57 h. At the World Athletics Championships in 1991 he finished tenth and at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona 49th place. At the Frankfurt Marathon in 1992 he was second in 2:13:16 h.

At the German Championship in 1993, which was held as part of the Hanover Marathon , he won the runner-up title for the second time and was then nominated for the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart. In a heat battle he was sixth in 2:18:28 h.

That year he finished seventh in the Tokyo International Men's Marathon in 2:12:57 h. At the European Championships in 1994 he came in 14th place and was again the best German runner. In 1995 he was fifth overall in the Hamburg Marathon German marathon champion in 2:12:57 h. At the 1995 World Championships , he finished 14th.

With a time of 2:13:28 h, achieved second in the Hanover Marathon in 1996, he qualified for the marathon of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he finished 49th.

The athlete nicknamed "Konny" is 1.78 m tall and weighed 62 kg at competition times. He started first for VfL Waldkraiburg, later for SVO Germaringen.

Dobler is a police officer . He has been the full-time mayor of Langerringen since 2002 . He is widowed and has four children.
