Langerringen is a municipality in the Swabian district of Augsburg and the seat of the administrative community Langerringen .

geography

The village of Langerringen is located in the south of the Augsburg district. Langerringen is a typical street village , which, in addition to two main streets in the north-west and north-east, has been extended by settlements that were added later, which, depending on the relation, can be described as new development areas.

In addition, the village is characterized by the Singold and its tributaries and the resulting floodplain landscapes. The Singold runs west of the main road and separates the settlements upstream to the west from the village center.

Parish parts

The municipality has eight officially named municipal parts (unofficial parts of the municipality are in italics , the type of settlement is given in brackets ):

  • Falkenberg ( village ) with tree nursery and "Mondscheinhof"
  • Gennach ( parish village ) with Bichl, Pisterhof and Gennachermühle
  • Langerringen (parish village) with castle courtyard ( wasteland ), wasteland (hamlet) and Gerum
  • Schwabmühlhausen (parish village)
  • Schwabaich, formerly: Aichhöfe ( hamlet )
  • Westerringen ( Kirchdorf ) with Westerringen train station, Linderhof, Volkner and Reitgarten

history

The local nobility of the nobles von Erringen had their seat here in the 12th and 13th centuries. They are mentioned several times as ministerials of the Augsburg bishopric. Around 1300 they gave up their episcopal fiefdom again. In 1460, the Augsburg Cathedral Monastery acquired the court and other goods as a fief from the Augsburg Monastery and set up a nursing office in the village. Until the 17th century the place was called Erringen. The district of Westerringen also belonged to the Augsburg Cathedral Monastery. From 1806 the place belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria . After that, Langerringen shared the history of its larger area. On April 17, 1945, American troops marched into Langerringen. In 1934 and 1935 the Singold and the Röthenbach were regulated. From 1939 until its dissolution in 1972, Langerringen belonged to the former district of Schwabmünchen .
