geography

location

The community is located about 25 kilometers northwest of Augsburg on the edge of the Holzwinkel in the Augsburg-Western Forests Nature Park . The Laugna, (a tributary of the Zusam ), the Weiherbach and the Johannesbach flows through Emersacker .

Neighboring communities

Emersacker is surrounded in the north by the district of Dillingen an der Donau , in the east, south and west by the district of Augsburg . Due to the very elongated municipality area in north-south direction, many municipalities border the Emersackerer Flur.

The following neighboring communities in the Augsburg district border on the community (starting in the east and following clockwise): - Heretsried with the district Lauterbrunn, (east) - Bonstetten (south) - Welden (west) - Altenmünster with the districts Zusamzell and Hegnenbach ( west)

In addition, the communities from the district of Dillingen an der Donau - Zusamaltheim with the district Marzelstetten (north) - Laugna with the districts Bocksberg , Modelshausen , Kaag and Hinterbuch (north) border the community.

history

Emersacker (near Emheri's field) grew out of a single farm - perhaps from a Franconian manor. There is evidence that Emersacker first appeared in 1169, when Heinrich von Emersacker signed a document as a witness. In another document from the Augsburg bishopric of February 23, 1361, Schrag von Emersacker appeared as a witness for Chuntz. Around 1606 Emersacker passed to Hans Friedrich Schertlin von Burtenbach, who sold it to the Fugger in 1613 . In 1658 Emersacker came to the foundations of the Fugger House and in 1672 was sold to Rudolf von und zu Schaumburg. In 1688 Emersacker was sold to the Augsburg Math. Koch von Gaillebach, H. Sulzer and HJ Friedrich Langenmantel. Around 1700 Emersacker finally came to the Fugger Foundation. Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

In the center of the village is still the Fugger Castle, which housed the Fugger Foundation Brewery until 1966. This building was acquired by the municipality in 1989 and has already been partially rebuilt and renovated. The new town hall, a clubhouse and the music practice room have been housed since 1993, the new fire station since 1999 and the youth club since 2005.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,089 to 1,393 by 304 inhabitants or by 27.9%.

Blazon : “Shield border divided by gold and blue in the cloud section; in silver next to each other a red ear of wheat and a blue lily. "

Coat of arms history

The shield border, divided in the cloud section, is taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Schauenburg. The heraldic lily and the colors gold and blue are reminiscent of the rule of the Fuggers, who were wealthy in the village and held the local authority. The red ear of wheat in the coat of arms indicates the rural structure of the municipality.

Culture and sights

Emersacker Castle was built in the middle of the 12th century by the nobles von Emersacker. It was destroyed in the Schmalkaldic War in 1546. The Fuggers, who bought it in the early 17th century, built a new building that was demolished in the mid-19th century. The preserved round towers with onion domes and the outbuildings are reminiscent of the former manor house.
