Kleinaitingen

Kleinaitingen (coll. Kloioidinga) is a municipality in the Swabian district of Augsburg and a member of the Großaitingen administrative community .

Kleinaitingen is located south of Augsburg in the Lechfeld .

The municipality has three officially named municipal parts (the type of settlement is indicated in brackets ):

• Kleinaitingen ( parish village )
• Gutshof Lechfeld (settlement)
• Lechfeld North with towel forest and Ulrich barracks (settlement)

history

Kleinaitingen probably developed as a sister settlement to Großaitingen before 900 . The place belonged to the cathedral monastery Augsburg until the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 . In 1806 Kleinaitingen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Hans Leupold , one of the most important Anabaptist personalities , grew up here.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 886 to 1,312 by 426 inhabitants or 48.1%.

Rupert Fiehl from the CSU / UW was elected mayor on March 16, 2014 in the first ballot with 87.20% of the votes cast and re-elected on March 15, 2020 with 58.8% of the votes. He is the successor to Franz Schäfer (CSU / UW), who has been in office since 1990.

Kleinaitingen is the location of the Bundeswehr . The Ulrich barracks houses the Center for Electronic Combat, Flying Weapons Systems (ZEK FlgWaSys), the Bundeswehr Technical College for Information Technology (FSBwIT), the Kleinaitingen driver training center (KfAusbZentr Kleinaitingen) and the regional staff for territorial tasks of the Bundeswehr Süd (RegStTerrAufg Süd).
