Langenneufnach is a municipality in the Swabian district of Augsburg and the seat of the administrative community of Stauden .

• District Langenneufnach ( parish village ) with Bucherhof ( wasteland ) and Unterrothan ( village )
• Habertsweiler district ( Kirchdorf )

history

Origin of name

The place name is derived from the Celtic words "Nif" or "Nifen", which mean "dark", "foggy" or "hazy", and suggests that there was settlement as early as the Celtic era. Later place names were "Nifenaha", "Neifnach" and "Langenneiffnach".

Until the church is planted

The barons of Hus were the local lords and owners of the bailiwick. Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,474 to 1,759 by 285 inhabitants or 19.3%.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, part of the dissolved community of Habertsweiler was incorporated.

• Eitelhans Langenmantel (1480? –1528), a member of the Augsburg Anabaptist Congregation , stayed in Langenneufnach for some time on the run from the captors of the Swabian Federation .
• Markus Ferber (* 1965), MEP, grew up in the village and spent his childhood.

traffic

Langenneufnach station is on the perennial railway from Gessertshausen to Markt Wald. The route is currently only used by individual special trains.
