The Fugger Castle Emersacker is located in Emersacker in the Augsburg district . Only remains of the former Fugger Castle have survived.

history

The noble von Emersacker built a castle in their local rule in the middle of the 12th century. This was destroyed in the Schmalkaldic War . In the following years the castle was in the hands of several owners. These included the noble families Schertlin von Burtenbach and zu Schaumburg.

In the first third of the 17th century, the castle and town finally passed to the Fuggers, who had already owned it. They erected a new building there, the main building of which was demolished in the middle of the 19th century.

Today the round towers with onion domes are reminiscent of the former imposing castle, in whose preserved parts the town hall of the community is housed.

On November 19, 2018, the castle was badly damaged by a major fire.
