Attractions

Nature park house on the grounds of the Oberschönenfeld monastery

The permanent exhibition "Nature and People in the Nature Park" is shown in the Nature Park House, which opened in 1992 and is located in an outbuilding of the Cistercian Abbey of Oberschönenfeld south of Gessertshausen . In addition, from 1974 to 1980, the “Glaserschusterhaus” from Döpshofen, a perennial house typical of the area, was rebuilt at the monastery and made accessible as a museum. This mercenary property is the last thatched small farmhouse in the Augsburg area. In past centuries this design was typical for the perennials, the southern part of the nature park. In other former farm buildings of the abbey, the Swabian district now operates the Swabian Folklore Museum Oberschönenfeld .

The permanent exhibition “Nature and People in the Nature Park” was fundamentally renewed in 2014 and now also has many media elements and a large diorama that can be accessed directly using a crawl tube.
