The linden tree at Schlossgut Gailenbach is a registered natural monument in Edenbergen in the Augsburg district ( Bavaria ).

The linden tree is located on the edge of an eastward sloping slope on the south-eastern wall of the Gailenbach castle estate. The castle wall is actually a picket fence with large pillars made of brick , which encompasses the area with the castle building and the associated manor to the south of it . South of the linden tree, the connecting road from Gailenbach to the bypass road in the direction of Gailenbacher Mühle and the Edenbergen motorway service station leads past.

The linden tree was registered as a natural monument until 2012. The linden tree lost two large side branches in severe weather in 2011 and then in October 2012 the southern main branch, which was about half the tree in volume. Fortunately, these large parts of the linden tree did not cause any further damage to the wall surrounding the castle. In the years before 2011, branches were broken again and again, some of which also destroyed the picket fences around the perimeter. After a renewed assessment by the responsible authority at the end of 2012, the linden tree was revoked the status of natural monument insofar as the authority no longer undertakes any maintenance. The necessary securing and clearing work after storm damage has since been carried out by the two residents of the castle and the estate. However, the prospects that the linden tree will survive other major storms are very low.
