Deuringen is a district of Stadtbergen on the western edge of Augsburg in Bavaria . Until the merger with Leitershofen and Stadtbergen, which took effect on May 1, 1978, Deuringen was an independent municipality .

Location description

Deuringen lies on the edge of the western forests . It can be reached from Stadtbergen via Deuringer Strasse about one kilometer to the west. This leads past a golf course to the left and right and shows a significant gradient, especially towards the entrance to the village. As Allgäuer Straße it splits into Kapellenstraße on the left and Sandbergstraße on the right. The latter again leads out of Deuringen as Deuringer Straße at the north-western end and on to Steppach .

The St. Joseph's Chapel and the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel are located in the center of the village on the village square. Small church services are still held in the chapel, built in 1721, on special occasions.

The Deuring area lies on a hill and is bordered by the western forests in the west and the former American military training area in the north and south. Due to the golf course in the east, Deuringen is currently framed by natural areas and forest areas and is very often the starting point for hikers and cyclists from the Augsburg area.

There are (as of January 2008), apart from a few restaurants, no major industrial or commercial settlements in Deuringen.

Attractions

"Western Forests" Nature Park

The western forests offer a relaxing and tranquil experience of nature and a destination for walking, cycling and hiking.

St. Joseph's Chapel and St. Gabriel's Church

St. Joseph's Chapel was built in 1721 and renovated in 1989. For more than 200 years, the St. Joseph's Chapel was the place of worship for the Catholics in Deuring, where worship was only held during the week. On Sundays and public holidays, the Deuringer Catholics had to make a pilgrimage to Stadtbergen, to the parish church of St. Nicholas. Finally, on November 12, 1961, St. Gabriel's Church was inaugurated by Bishop Freundorfer. Since this consecration day, the Deuringer believers can also celebrate services on Sundays and public holidays in their village.

Draw well

The draw well is located in the center of Deuringen. It is located on the street and is accessible to every visitor and also offers seating for longer stays. The draw well is also the namesake for a street in Deuringen.
