The perennials are the southern part of the Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park . It is a gentle hill country with deciduous forests on the ridges and agricultural areas in the valleys.

The perennials enclose an area of ​​around 350 km². The main rivers that have their source in the area are the Schmutter , the Neufnach and the Zusam . The highest point is at 655  m above sea level. NN .

The perennials are limited by the Wertach and Lechfeld in the east and the Mindeltal in the west. The Reischenau connects to the north . The federal road 300 roughly marks the border between the perennials and the Reischenau.

Places in the perennials are (selection): Döpshofen , Waldberg , Kreuzanger , Reinhartshausen , Straßberg , Markt Wald , Walkertshofen , Fischach , Gessertshausen , Ziemetshausen , Langenneufnach , Mickhausen , Scherstetten , Mittelneufnach , northwestern part of Türkheim . Schwabmünchen is located on the eastern edge . Contrary to popular belief, Aichen is not one of them.

A railway line runs through the perennials, the perennial railway .
