Wollmetshofen

Wollmetshofen is a Rodesiedlung and Kirchdorf and a municipality part of the market Fischach in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria .

For the same district includes Castle Elmischwang and the wasteland Sägmühle , and directly opposite the small hamlet of Lehner mountain. Wollmetshofen is located on the Neufnach in the hilly landscape of perennials .

history

Wolmuetshoven was first mentioned in a document in 1135.

From 1862 to 1929 Wollmetshofen belonged to the district office of Zusmarshausen and from 1929 to the district office of Augsburg , which from 1939 was called the district of Augsburg.

Wollmetshofen was an independent municipality and was incorporated into Markt Fischach on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . At the moment, coming from Fischach, a new building area is being built on the right in Höflesweg .

The Catholic branch community Sankt Jakobus the Elder in Wollmetshofen is a manual benefit of the parish Sankt Michael in Fischach. Wollmetshofen is on one of the paths of the pilgrims to St. James . The Jakobskirche in Wollmetshofen with the Gothic choir was expanded in 1860 by the addition of the nave, renewed in 1936/37 and enlarged again in 1977.

Geographical location

Wollmetshofen is located in the perennials, which in turn are in the Western Forests Nature Park . This gentle hilly landscape gives Wollmetshofen a slight slope . The north-western part of the village is around 20 meters higher than the district in the south-east towards Neufnach.

The Bärenbach flows in the extreme south of the district into the Neufnach, which meanders southeast of the village, but partly north of the tracks of the perennial railway and Elmischwang Castle to Fischach. In the village itself and at the Sägmühle, opposite Lehnersberg, the river can be diverted to old but still functioning water weirs . The weirs are opened at high tide to avoid flooding as much as possible.

Attractions

About 500 meters from the town center to the north, at the same Grotteweg is consecrated on April 30, 1967 Mariengrotte named "Mary, Mother of the Great Victory". The name has its origins in the battle of the White Mountain . The grotto is located on the Bavarian Swabian Jakobusweg and is still used regularly for processions today.

Remains of a ring wall system , the so-called Hattenburg , can be found just outside the village in a forest towards Ried .

The Elmischwang Castle , a district of Wollmetshofen was an outdoor seating of several Augsburger noble families, including the noble family to and from Aufseß . The castle itself has now been converted into a retirement home. Hugo von und zu Aufseß had the villa of the same name built as the summer residence of the noble family in 1894/1895 in today's hamlet of Lehnersberg, also a district of Wollmetshofen .

coat of arms

The coat of arms , which has been in use since 1965, is based on the coat of arms of the Lords of Hattenberg (silver and blue split, topped with a golden bar) as the fiefdom of the Untervogtei between Schmutter and Zusam . The Blue Star has the Augsburg merchant family Former towards the successor of Hatteberg, the red rose on the barons of Aufseß as the owner of Elmischwang.

Infrastructure

Road traffic

Wollmetshofen stop

Wollmetshofen is on State Road 2026 between Fischach in the east and Langenneufnach in the south. The federal highway 300 , which runs three kilometers to the north, can be reached via the connecting road to Ried .

From Wollmetshofen buses run several times a day on the AVV line 604 to Gessertshausen, where there is a train connection to Augsburg , Munich and towards Ulm .

Rail transport

The Wollmetshofen stop ( DS100 : MWHO) is on the connecting road (Freiherr-von-Aufseß-Straße, formerly Bahnhofsstraße) between Elmischwang Castle and Wollmetshofen. The stop is part of the Staudenbahn from Gessertshausen to Markt Wald (- Türkheim). The breakpoint (at that time still under the train station ) was mapped for the first time in 1880. The name of the stop is misleading, as the platform is directly connected to the old people's home at Elmischwang Castle , but from there you have to walk about 300 meters to the village of Wollmetshofen. As part of the expansion of the Staudenbahn, it is planned to build a new stop called Wollmetshofen , which will then be closer to the center of the village. The existing breakpoint is to be renamed Elmischwang .

The route is currently only used by individual special trains. From 2021, the BRB will operate the Staudenbahn again as planned for the 'Augsburg Diesel Network II' contract and will therefore be reactivated. However, due to delivery bottlenecks for the vehicles, it must be postponed to December 2022. 18 pairs of trains are promised every day. In the rush hour, trains to and from Augsburg should also be tied through without changing trains. (As of January 2020)

societies

Despite the small population of Wollmetshofen, the village is home to four active and two former clubs.

Fire station of the Wollmetshofen fire brigade

Volunteer Fire Brigade Wollmetshofen eV

The Wollmetshofen volunteer fire brigade is the oldest association in the village's history. It was founded on January 28, 1883, and was ready for action with 41 men on February 2, 1883 at the then royal Bavarian district office of Zusmarshausen . At that time, the newly founded fire brigade association took over the extinguishing devices of the previously existing mandatory fire brigade . Among other things, a suction and pressure hose syringe still preserved today , which was operated using muscle power. The volunteer fire brigade currently operates a fire station with a training room, which was inaugurated on September 27, 1986, as well as a portable pump vehicle from 1992 based on a Daimler 910 with various special loads. In 2019, the fire brigade deployed 16 times.

Fruit and Horticultural Association Wollmetshofen eV

On May 18, 1919, the previous fruit growing and beekeeping association in Wollmetshofen was founded. This was active until June 3, 1934, but was then shut down by an NS association that had been founded in the meantime . There are no records of the association during the Second World War. On March 8, 1952 by the then Wollmetshofer mayor Raimund was founded Fischer, the association again at the instigation and had henceforth the name Horticultural Association Wollmetshofen eV In 1957 then the candidate in the district association followed Augsburg-Land of Horticulture and Landscape Management Association on the initiative of Association, a Jakobus fountain was set up on the square in front of the church (so-called village square) on July 23, 2016 . It supplies pilgrims on the Bavarian-Swabian Way of St. James with drinking water. Through a cooperation with the association Streuobstwiesen Stauden eV , various local juices could be produced and sold. In 2018, over 2.2 tons of fruit from Wollmetshofen were processed into juice.

Veterans and soldiers association Wollmetshofen eV

The association was founded 15 months after the end of the First World War on February 1, 1920. The flag specially made for the association was picked up on Epiphany 1921 by association members from the deaf-and-dumb workshop in Dillingen on the Danube . The then pastor Helmle from Fischach consecrated the flag. The 100th anniversary of the association followed on February 1, 2020.

Schützenverein Hattenburg eV

On the initiative of Baron Hugo von und zu Aufseß at the time , the predecessor small-bore shooting club Wollmetshofen was founded on August 28, 1928. The baron supplied wood free of charge and provided the ground for the first rifle house , which was built and inaugurated on his own in 1928. In 1931 one joined the Schützenbund Bayern and in 1934 the Gau Hochland (also a supraregional Schützenbund). During the Second World War , the club's activities were suspended. The former rifle house was used as a warehouse for agriculture. The association was re-established 5 years after the war. Due to the lack of space, the construction of a large shooting range began in 1961. The club house celebrated its inauguration just one year later. At the same time as the inauguration, the name of the club was changed to Schützenverein Hattenburg eV Wollmetshofen , based on the Hattenburg (an ancient ring wall in a forest near the village). In 1982 an expansion of the shooting range began. The work was carried out exclusively by the association members and could be completed a year later. Eight shooting ranges and a guest room had now been integrated into the shooting range.
