Angelo Carosi

Angelo Carosi (born January 20, 1964 in Priverno ) is a former Italian obstacle and long distance runner .

Life

He had his greatest successes in the 3000 m obstacle. In this discipline he was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split and seventh at the 1991 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. After an eighth place at the 1993 World Cup in Stuttgart, he won silver at the 1994 European Championships in Helsinki . At the 1995 World Cup in Gothenburg he was fifth, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta ninth and at the 1997 World Cup in Athens eighth.

In 2000 he switched to the 42.195 km distance and won the Florence Marathon . The following year he won the Piacenza Marathon and was fourth in the Maratona d'Italia national marathon champion . In 2003 he was fifth at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio and again Italian marathon champion as the overall winner in Florence. He finished fifth at the Maratona d'Europa 2004 and at the Maratona di Sant'Antonio in 2005.

In addition to his two marathon titles, he was three times Italian champion over 3000 m obstacle (1989, 1991, 2004), twice over 5000 m (1994, 1998) and once over 3000 m in the hall (1990). He started a total of eight times at the Cross Country World Championships , with a 24th place on the short distance in 1998 in Marrakech as the best place.

Angelo Carosi is 1.82 m tall and weighed 66 kg during his playing days. He was trained by Massimo Magnani and started for the CS Forestale.
