Dominique Chauvelier

Dominique Chauvelier (born August 3, 1956 in La Flèche ) is a French long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the marathon .

In 1981 he became the national marathon champion for the first time, and in 1982 he won the Helsinki Marathon . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he came in 46th place.

In 1985 he won the 25 km from Berlin . In 1988 he finished eleventh in the London Marathon and fourth in the Beijing Marathon , and in 1989 he finished fifth in the IAAF World Cup marathon in Milan and won the Reims Marathon .

In 1990 he won the bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships in Split . He also became French champion in 25 km road running and marathon that year . The following year he finished eighth in the Tokyo International Men's Marathon , came 15th at the World Championships in Tokyo and defended his national marathon title.

At the 1992 Olympic Games , he finished 31st.

In 1993 he finished seventh in Tokyo, finished ninth overall at the Paris Marathon for the fourth time as the French marathon champion, came in 25th at the World Championships in Stuttgart and came up at the IAAF World Cup marathon held as part of the San Sebastián Marathon 17th place. The following year he was tenth at the European Championships in Helsinki .

In 1995 he was eleventh at the IAAF World Cup marathon in Athens and came 39th at the World Championships in Gothenburg . At the World Half Marathon Championships in 1996 in Palma he ran a 59th place, and at the 1997 World Championships in Athens he reached 38th place. In his last international competition, the European Championships in Budapest in 1998, he did not reach the goal.

He took part in cross-country championships seven times , with a 36th place in 1984 as the best place.

Dominique Chauvelier is 1.81 m tall and weighs 68 kg. He is still active as an age runner and in 2006 became French champion in age group V2 in cross-country running , 10 km road running and half marathon .
