Julie Baumann , née Rocheleau , (born June 17, 1964 in Saint-Jérôme ) is a former Swiss athlete of Canadian origin. She specialized in the 100 meter hurdles .

Life

Julie achieved her first successes as Rocheleau for her home country Canada. She was fourth in the 1986 Commonwealth Games and sixth in the 1988 Olympic Games . In 1989 she tested positive for stanozolol and received a two-year doping ban . During this time she married the Swiss fencer Beat Baumann , took his last name and started working for Switzerland.

After her suspension, she finished fifth at the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 European Indoor Championships . Her greatest achievement was winning the gold medal at the 1993 World Indoor Championships in Toronto . At the World Championships in Stuttgart , however, she was eliminated in the semifinals. In 1994 she came sixth at the European Championships and fifth at the 1995 World Championships . At the 1996 Olympic Games and the 1997 World Championships , she did not get past the semi-finals, at the 1998 European Championships she was seventh.

Baumann is 1.64 m tall and her competition weight was 52 kg.
