Jan Huruk

Jan Huruk (born January 27, 1960 in Orsk , Rudna ) is a former Polish long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon distance .

In 1988 he won the Rhein-Ruhr Marathon , and in 1989 he was sixth in the Berlin Marathon . In 1990 he won the Marrakech marathon and the 10-kilometer route of the Paderborn Easter run ; at the Vienna City Marathon he was second and at the Chicago Marathon sixth. The following year he finished second at the CPC Loop Den Haag , won again in Paderborn, won bronze in the IAAF World Cup marathon held as part of the London Marathon , came fourth in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo and in the Fukuoka marathon to eighth place.

In 1992 he qualified second in the London Marathon for the Barcelona Olympic Games , where he was seventh. At the end of the season he came in fifth in Fukuoka. He also finished fifth in the following year at the Lake Biwa Marathon , and 13th at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 .

In 1995 he finished third in the Tokyo International Men's Marathon and in 1996 fourth in the Beijing Marathon

Outdoors he became Polish champion in 1987 in the 10,000 m and in 1992 in the half marathon ; in the hall in 1988 over 3000 m .

Jan Huruk is 1.78 m tall and weighed 63 kg at competition times. He started for Gryfa Słupsk.
