Pétur Guðmundsson (athlete)

Pétur Guðmundsson (born March 9, 1962 ) is a former Icelandic shot putter .

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he was eliminated in qualification.

In 1991 he finished fourth at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Seville , but failed in the preliminary round at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo . In 1992 he was fifth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Genoa and again did not qualify for the Olympic Games in Barcelona .

Another preliminary round at the World Championships in Stuttgart was followed in 1994 by a bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships in Paris and seventh place at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki . In 1995 he was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona .
