Ramadas is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Ramadas is the central place of the canton of Ramadas in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Cotagaita in the province of Nor Chichas . The village is located at an altitude of 3261 m on one of the dry valleys, which only carry water during the rainy season, which lead to the Río Cotagaita and are connected to the Río Pilcomayo via the Río Tumusla and the Río San Juan del Oro .

Ramadas lies between the mountain ranges of the Cordillera de Chichas and the Cordillera Central , which rise from the barren plateau of the Bolivian Altiplano . The climate is cool and dry because of the inland location and is characterized by a typical daytime climate, in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are usually significantly greater than the seasonal fluctuations.

The annual precipitation is only about 300 mm, with a very pronounced dry season from April to October with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 70 to 80 mm monthly precipitation.
Transport network
Ramadas is located at a distance of 273 kilometers by road south of Potosí , the capital of the department.
From Potosí, the paved road Ruta 1 leads from Lake Titicaca in the north to the Argentine border in the south and crosses the cities of El Alto , Oruro and Potosí . From Potosí it leads over 37 kilometers in a southerly direction to Cuchu Ingenio , where route 14 branches off in a southerly direction and leads via Vitichi , Tumusla and Cotagaita to Ramadas and further south to Villazón on the Argentine border.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Cotagaita 96 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
