Alberto Juzdado

Alberto Juzdado ( Alberto Juzdado López ; born August 20, 1966 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish marathon runner .

Life

His first major success was second place in the 1989 San Sebastián Marathon . Three years later he repeated this placement there. In 1993 he was the Spanish champion in the half marathon and came 20th in the IAAF World Cup marathon held as part of the San Sebastián Marathon .

At the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994, he completed a purely Spanish podium as a bronze medalist: Martín Fiz won gold, Diego García silver . The following year he was sixth at the Boston Marathon and fifth at the World Championships in Athens .

In 1996 he finished third in the Tokyo International Men's Marathon with 2:08:46 hours for the first time under 2:10 hours. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta , he finished 18th place, and end of the season he finished second in the Fukuoka Marathon .

In 1997 he finished ninth in the Seoul International Marathon . At the World Championships in Athens he did not reach the goal. In 1998 he won the Granollers Half Marathon and the Tokyo International Men's Marathon, and was third in the Amsterdam Marathon , and in 1999 he was seventh in the London Marathon .

In 2000 he finished second in Granollers. With a third place in Tokyo he qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney , where he finished 42nd. A 20th place at the 2001 Berlin Marathon was followed by a second place in Tokyo in 2002 and a fifth at the European Championships in Munich .

In 2003 he won the Barcelona Marathon and came 48th at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . He ran the last marathon of his competitive sports career the following year at the Lake Biwa Marathon , where he did not get beyond 21st place.

At the World Half Marathon Championships, he finished 39th in South Shields in 1992 , 78th in Brussels in 1993 and 33rd in Brussels in 2002 .

Alberto Juzdado is 1.72 m tall and weighed 61 kg when he was active. Most recently he was trained by Dionisio Alonso and started for the Fila team.
