Elena Sipatova
Jelena Sipatova ( Russian Елена Сипатова , English transcription Yelena Sipatova ; born June 7, 1955 ) is a former Russian long-distance runner who started for the Soviet Union .
In 1980 and 1981, she won bronze at the World Cross Country Championships . In 1981 she set a world record in both the 5000 m and the 10,000 m . The latter was recognized by the IAAF as the first official world record over this distance .
At the European Athletics Championships in 1982 , she won the bronze medal over 10,000 m. In 1995 she won the premiere of the Rome Marathon in 2:37:46 h.
