Gabriele Lion

Gabriele Löwe born Kotte (born December 12, 1958 in Dresden ) is a German athlete and Olympic medalist.

She won the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with the GDR's 4 x 400 meter relay (3: 20.35 min, together with Barbara Krug , Marita Koch and Christina Lathan ). In the 400-meter individual race , she was sixth (51.33 s). In 1979 she became GDR champion in the 400-meter run (at the same time with Christina Lathan).

Löwe started for the SC Einheit Dresden and trained with Dietmar Jarosch . In her active days, she was 1.72 m tall and weighed 62 kg. She became a business clerk and later worked at the Freital district office .

In 1980 Gabriele Löwe was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit.
