Ashley Spencer

Ashley Spencer (born June 8, 1993 ) is an American sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

In 2012 she was starting NCAA champion for the University of Illinois and then won gold in the individual competition and in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona .

The following year she defended her NCAA title and finished third at the US championships. At the World Championships in Moscow in 2013 , she reached the semifinals over 400 meters and won silver with the US team in the 4-by-400-meter relay.

Ashley Spencer is trained by Tonja Buford-Bailey . Her uncle Steve Smith was successful as a high jumper.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won the bronze medal in the 400 meter hurdles with 53.72 seconds.
