Steve Smith (high jumper, 1971)

Steve Smith (born January 11, 1971 ) is a former American high jumper .

Starting for Indiana State University (ISU), he was NCAA runner- up three times : in 1991 and 1992 indoors and in 1994 outdoors. At the national level he was runner-up in the open air in 1994 and runner-up in the indoor arena in 1995 and 1999.

He had his two greatest international successes in the 1995 season. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Barcelona , he finished seventh, and at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata , he won the silver medal.

Steve Smith is now a student advisor at the University of Indianapolis . In 2010 he was inducted into the ISU Hall of Fame.
