Gebhard Koberger
Gebhard Ferdinand Koberger CanReg (born December 24, 1909 in Vienna-Döbling ; † August 16, 1997 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian Augustinian canon and long-serving provost of the Lower Austrian monastery of Klosterneuburg .
Life
Gebhard Koberger joined the Augustinian Canons' Monastery in Klosterneuburg in 1929 and was ordained priest on June 27, 1935. In 1953 he was elected as successor to Alipius Linda as the 65th provost of the Klosterneuburg Monastery, which he then headed until 1995. In the function of Abbot General of the Congregation of the Austrian Augustinian Canons , which he held from 1954 to 1987, he was an envoy to the Second Vatican Council . From 1956 to 1974 he was chairman of the superior conference of the male religious orders , from 1969 to 1983 prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of St. Grab , then Grand Prior and from 1968 to 1974 Abbot Primate of the Augustinian Canons' Confederation , which operates worldwide .
