Christina Heinich

Christina Heinich , married Schiffner (born July 8, 1949 in Leipzig ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich (42 , 95 s, together Evelin Kaufer , Bärbel Struppert and Renate Stecher ). At these Olympic Games, she also started in the 200-meter individual race and finished fifth (22.89 s).

Again with the 4-by-100-meter relay of the GDR, she won the 1974 European Championships (42.51s, together with Bärbel Eckert , Doris Maletzki and Renate Stecher ).

At the European Championships in 1966 and 1971 she remained without medals: in 1966 she was eliminated in the 200-meter run in the intermediate run and was fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay (45.3 s); In 1971 she was eighth in the 200-meter run.

Christina Heinich started for SC Leipzig and trained with Karl-Heinz Balzer u. a. with Karin Balzer and Regina Höfer . In her active days, she was 1.76 m tall and weighed 66 kg. After her sports career, she became an engineer and economist and worked in a construction worker supply company. She married the cyclist and peace rider Michael Schiffner .
