Bärbel Struppert

Bärbel Struppert , b. Schrickel (born September 26, 1950 in Jena , Thuringia ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich (42.95 s, together Evelin Kaufer , Christina Heinich and Renate Stecher ).

At the age of 15, she became the European Junior Champion in the 4 x 100 meter run in 1966.

Bärbel Struppert started for SC Motor Jena and trained with Horst-Dieter Hille . In her active days she was 1.58 m tall and weighed 50 kg. After her sports career, she became a qualified sports teacher and worked in Gera as a district sports teacher. She married the GDR Oberliga soccer player Gerd Struppert . After the end of the GDR she worked for the Stadtsportbund Gera.

In 1972 she received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze for her athletic achievements at the Summer Olympics .
