Michael Schiffner

Michael Schiffner (born July 13, 1949 ) is a former German racing cyclist and today's sports director.

Athletic career

Michael Schiffner was GDR champion four times: 1971 and 1971 in the team time trial with the team of the SC DHfK Leipzig , 1971 and 1974 in the criterion . In the 1975 GDR tour , he took second place. Twice, in 1972 and 1973, he won Rund um Berlin . Schiffner took part in the international peace voyage five times from 1972 to 1976 ; Twelve times he wore the purple jersey of the most active driver, in 1976 he took second place in the overall ranking.

In 1976 Schiffner started (with Hans-Joachim Hartnick , Karl-Dietrich Diers and Gerhard Lauke ) in the team time trial at the Olympic Games in Montreal ; the GDR team took tenth place.

Professional

After the reunification , Schiffner became the sporting director of the “Bunte Berte” team and the Wiesenhof team . In 2005 he was fired from Team Milram because of his Stasi past. In 2007 he took up a job with Team Isaac , and in 2013 he became the sports director of the elite team Ur-Krostitzer-Univega. He is also the deputy head of the cycling department at SC DHfK Leipzig .

Private

Michael Schiffner is married to the former athlete Christina Heinich . His father was the former cyclist and cycling trainer Werner Schiffner .
