Gerhard Lauke (born February 25, 1952 in Zillendorf near Frankfurt (Oder) ) is a former cyclist from the GDR. in the summer of 1976 he took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal .

Athletic career

He began his sporting career in 1963 at BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt , moved to SG Dynamo Frankfurt (Oder) in 1969 and to the Dynamo Berlin sports club in 1971 . In 1975 he became a member of the ASK Frankfurt (Oder), where he also ended his career as a competitive athlete in 1980. Lauke took part in the International Peace Tour from 1975 to 1977. In 1976 he won third place in the overall individual ranking. He became a multiple record holder in the individual time trial over 50 and 75 kilometers (unofficial records). Gerhard Lauke started at the UCI Road World Championships in 1975 and finished 6th in the team time trial with the GDR team . in this discipline he was tenth with his teammates at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . Lauke ended his active career in 1980.

Professional

Lauke completed an apprenticeship as a plumber and has been working as a U17 trainer and regional base trainer at the Frankfurt cycling club 90 since he ended his active career . He is the father of the former racing cyclist Ronny Lauke .
