The GDR Tour (also: International GDR Tour in Cycling ) was a stage race in road cycling for amateurs that was held in the GDR and carried out by the German Sports Committee until 1957 and from 1958 by the German Cycling Association of the GDR . It was held for the first time in 1949, at that time still as the " East Zone Tour " (also: East Zone Tour or across the East Zone ). In the period from 1974 to 1987, seven stages of the GDR tour were declared as a Harz tour , sometimes under different names such as "Rund im Harz", "Quer durch ...", " Dessau - Nordhausen ", etc. The 70th road race around Berlin around the The Berliner Zeitung's Grand Prix was also the 1st stage of the 24th GDR tour . The last tour took place in 1989. Gustav-Adolf Schur and Bernd Drogan each won the tour four times. There were only three overall victories by foreign drivers (1956, 1957 and 1972).
