Lothar Lingner (* 25. April 1942 in Schoenebeck (Elbe) ) is a former German cyclist and multiple DDR -Master in cycling .

Life and career

The trained lathe operator with the nickname "Ling" began cycling in 1959 at BSG Lokomotive Magdeburg . His coach there was Erwin Krieg. In his youth he was able to achieve some successes, especially cross-country races . In October 1960 he became a member of ASG Vorwärts Leipzig , one of the high-performance centers in GDR cycling.

There he celebrated two of his greatest successes by winning two national titles in the 100-kilometer team time trial in 1965 (with Günter Hoffmann , Lothar Höhne and Klaus Kellermann ) and 1967 (with Dieter Gonschorek , Günter Hoffmann and Ulrich Richter ). A second place in 1964 and a third place in 1966 completed his collection of medals in this discipline.

In the individual road race, Lingner succeeded in the 1964 International Harz Tour . His best placement in the GDR Tour was third in 1966 . Internationally, he competed in races in Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Romania and the former Soviet Union.

In 1967 he was among the candidates for the International Peace Tour , but could not qualify for the team. At the end of 1967 he left the ASK sports club and rejoined the BSG locomotive. In 1972 he ended his active career.
