This brought him back the lead in the overall standings, which he did not give up on the following sections of the day. He also won the final time trial in the Ore Mountains and was able to extend his lead in the overall standings even further. It finally won the tour with a distance of 3:53 minutes to the runner-up Bernhard Eckstein .

The time trial also played a decisive role in the team classification. Up to the fifth stage, the first team of SC Dynamo Berlin was in the front, but in the time trial on the fifth leg of the day, SC DHfK Leipzig was able to place four drivers from its first team behind the victorious Peschel. The Berlin team fell more than four minutes behind the DHfK, which did not give up the top of the team classification and in the end secured the overall victory with a lead of 3:36 minutes over SC Dynamo.
