Jiří Škoda (born March 27, 1956 in Brno , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech cyclist .

Life

During his career, Škoda won the overall ranking of the Tour of Slovakia three times (1976, 1980 and 1985) and twice the Giro delle Regioni (1984 and 1986). In 1981 and 1983 he was Czechoslovak road champion.

In 1980 Škoda took part in the Olympic Games in Moscow . In the 100 km team time trial he won the bronze medal with his teammates Michal Klasa , Vlastibor Konečný and Alipi Kostadinov . In the individual race he finished 13th. A year later he finished third again at the 1981 road world championships in the 100 km team time trial of the amateurs.

At the 1982 International Peace Race , Škoda drove one stage in the pink jersey of the most versatile driver and two stages in the green jersey of the best climber. At the end of the tour he finished 21st, 4:44 minutes behind the overall winner Olaf Ludwig . Overall, Skoda drove the peace drive seven times and placed six times among the top ten drivers. He achieved his best result in the overall standings on his debut in 1977 with fourth place.

At the GDR tour of the same year he took third place in the overall ranking.

At the Rhineland-Palatinate Tour , Škoda won the mountain classification in 1983 and 1984.

In 1987 and 1988, Škoda drove for the Italian professional team Alfa Lum.

Honors

In 1980, Škoda was the winner of the annual survey of the Král cyklistiky ( cycling king ) by the Československý svaz cyklistiky cycling association.
