Josef Křivka
Josef Křivka (born May 22, 1932 in Spojil , † 1971 in Prague ) was a Czech cyclist and national champion in cycling .
Athletic career
Křivkas (often written as Krivka in German media) first notable result was second place in the traditional Prague – Karlovy Vary – Prague race (the longest European road race for amateurs with 262 to 280 kilometers ) in 1953 behind Jan Kubr . A year later he won the national road race championship, breaking the dominance of Jan Veselý , who had won the championship race every year since 1946. He was also runner -up in the Tour of Slovakia (as in 1958). In 1955 he was runner-up in the cyclo-cross race . At the International Peace Tourhe was at the start six times and had his best overall result with 12th place in 1959 . He was also able to win a stage in 1955 . In 1957 he won Prague – Karlovy Vary – Prague .
Honors
The Pardubice cycling club has been organizing a commemorative race for Josef Křivka since 1974 (the first winner was Michal Klasa ), which is currently (as of 2020) still being held.
